Performance Appraisal is a means for documenting how effectively an employee is performing in his current job and is the basis for: -  
 
  • discussing current performance and future development with the employee, and
 
 
  • remunerating and rewarding employee based on performance.
 

An important result of the Performance Appraisal should be an improvement in the employee’s future performance.
